Music History

Below are just a few examples of how music can be intertwined and impact our lives and history.

Book Talent
“Tony Saranchak Orchestra”

Discovered while researching the family history recently.  I never knew my grandfather played the accordion, his brother the clarinet, and together they formed the “Tony Saranchak Orchestra.”  Who would have thought this little nugget of family history was just waiting to be dug up?

“William Hartley Band” – Titanic Band

This was a true Band of Heroes.  They played until the end to do their part in some small way to try and comfort and assure those still on the vessel as it was sinking.  A surreal twist of fate and circumstances for the biggest vessel at the time and promoted as “unsinkable.”

“Renee Fleming”

Opera singer who has formed a unique partnership and collaboration with various fields to study the power of music as it relates to health, development, therapy and the mind.

“Amazing Grace”

These words were originally a poem, that were later combined with music written by a different composer, and the song eventually became the one of the most known songs in history adapted and sung in almost every country.

“Tesla”

Who said loud rock and roll music can’t teach you history?  The hard rock band Tesla took their name from the scientist Nikola Tesla, who invented the radio, but did not get the full credit he deserved until after he had died.  We would NOT have music in the form we have it today without Nikola Tesla – the radio, his perfecting the use of Alternating Current to power all those guitars, speakers, stage lights, microphones, ANYTHING that we plug into an electrical outlet.   Also, one of my personal inspirations, he never thought of himself even though a true genius.  He died penniless, having lost his biggest financial backer John Astor on the Titanic!  Black balled by Thomas Edison, but never giving up his scientific and inventive pursuits and dreams.  The Wardenclyffe Tower in New York is a commonly known picture that was part of many of his experiments in the 1910’s and 1920’s.

So, Get Out and Rock the World!!!!!

One can never know how much your music may impact others……
